What are polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are highly purified DNA molecules extracted from fish. The ones used in our clinic are for eyes, face, neck and scalp. When we inject these into the skin, they reach the cells called fibroblasts. These cells are responsible for the formation of connective tissue through the ability to produce collagen, which helps maintain skin firm structure. As we age, collagen production declines, which is why our skin gets saggy and more wrinkled. Polynucleotides stimulate the fibroblasts to produce more collagen, leading to firmer, smoother and healthier skin. We also use it to promote hair growth at our specialised hair loss clinic.
Are there any side effects?
As with any injection, you can expect the skin to be slightly red and swollen immediately after the procedure. You may experience pinprick bleeding, bruising or itching, but it lasts for no more than 12 hours.
How many treatments are needed?
For best results, we recommend that you get three or four sessions spread over 3 to 4 weeks.
